Dr. Peter Steinecke is a founding partner of the law firm Witthoff Jaekel Steinecke and works in close cooperation with ambidexIP at his location in cologne at the location in cologne. Dr. Steinecke specializes in grant procedures and inter partes proceedings before the European Patent Office and has extensive experience in opposition and appeal procedures.

He studied biology at the University of Cologne and earned his Ph.D. at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research in Cologne and at Bayer AG, Crop Protection Business Group, Monheim, where he was first introduced to intellectual property protection. Before transitioning to the profession of patent attorney, he was a project manager under §§ 15 and 17 GenTSV in a biotechnology company (Bioplant GmbH). In addition to his work in patent law firms, Dr. Steinecke has extensive experience in patent portfolio management at international pharmaceutical companies (Janssen Pharmaceutica, Johnson & Johnson).

He applies his firsthand knowledge in drafting patent applications and grant procedures to protect his clients' patents from potential opposition and to strengthen their position in licensing negotiations and infringement risks. He has established the patent portfolio for several biopharmaceutical startup companies and supported their successful licensing negotiations.
